Deafinitely a good idea!
A new social enterprise cleaning company which employs deaf people has been helped with a donation of equipment by SYR.
Deafinitely Spotless is based in Reading and provides domestic and office cleaning. It is run under the umbrella of The Total Communications Community, in partnership with The Shaw Trust and Reading Deaf Centre.
Total Communications was set up by Judith Hutchinson and Marie Taylor, both qualified sign language interpreters, who realised it was four times harder for deaf people to obtain work.
Following their visit to the SYR stand at the Facilities Management Show in Birmingham, Gareth David offered to provide Deafinitely Spotless with equipment, and went down to Reading to hand over TC20s, Bulldog buckets, mops, Rapid Mop and wet floor signs.
“Deafinitely Spotless is a tremendous way to help people get into work when they would otherwise come up against barriers. We were delighted to be able to help and wish the team much success for the future.”
